Dundret mountain resort is located 100 km above the Arctic Circle, only five minutes from the city center of Gällivare in Swedish Lapland. The ski season here starts at the end of October and lasts for more than 6 months, until the beginning of May. Dundret is famous for well-groomed slopes as well as the World Cup cross-country tracks at Hellnerstadion, just below the lifts.
At Dundret you get the feel of wilderness even though you are only minutes away from the city. The mountain rises majestically over Gällivare and from the top you can enjoy a breathtaking view over 1/11 part of Sweden including Kebnekaise and the world heritage area Laponia.
In summertime the mountain and surrounding areas are perfect for hiking and biking. The days never seem to end and the midnight sun gives you plenty of time to explore the surroundings. The hiking trails start just outside of the hotel and there are both easy and challenging ones. If you don’t want to hike up the mountain you can drive to the top of the mountain and walk around the seven peaks.
In wintertime the whole world seems to be imbedded in white and you can spend your days alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, dogsledding or just enjoying the beautiful, white scenery. From late August to April the magical northern lights play in the sky, if you are lucky you might get to see the spectacular show in green and purple dancing over the sky.
